Revitalize the Arts in Your Community with Midori's Partners in Performance Grant Program!

PiP Grant Program Overview:

Founded in 2003 by acclaimed violinist Midori, Partners in Performance (PiP) is a nonprofit initiative dedicated to bringing exceptional chamber music performances to smaller communities that may lack the financial resources of larger urban centers. PiP collaborates with local presenters to offer world-class concerts, aiming to foster interest in classical music and strengthen local arts infrastructure.

Through PiP, renowned artists, including Midori herself, donate their time and talent to share their music to galvanize community engagement and provide vital support to smaller-scale arts presenters. These performances not only spark local interest in classical music but also help raise funds for future initiatives and special projects in the community.

For a processing fee of $3,000, local presenters receive access to two performances over consecutive seasons: the first featuring a distinguished artist like Midori, and the second highlighting emerging talent selected by PiP. Presenters are responsible for locally incurred costs, such as venue and piano rentals and program printing.

Local presenters are also encouraged to explore partnerships with other organizations, such as youth orchestras, universities, or fellow arts presenters, to host a PiP residency.
The residency includes a PiP recital along with supplemental programs such as masterclasses, workshops, Q&A sessions, and networking opportunities.
Each partnering organization receives a $500 discount on the processing fee.

Since its inception, PiP has co-sponsored over 60 chamber music programs across the U.S., including 10 virtual recitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Join us in fostering the arts by applying to Partners in Performance and help bring exceptional classical music to your community!

The major impact of the PiP recital was evidenced by an almost threefold increase in attendance.
Midori’s appearance is also responsible for at least part of the substantial increase in season subscriptions this year. There likely will be lasting positive effects of this event on our grant writing and fundraising efforts as well.
PiP has delivered exactly what is needed today to stimulate interest in live performing arts.
Communities like Harrisburg, PA, need this now more than ever.

Beyond extending musical opportunities to a large in-person and TV audience, the Midori recital event helped strengthen our organization in many ways.
Most notably, by virtue of ticket sales, we gained hundreds of new names for our marketing mailing list for future fundraising, concert promotion, and ticket sales.
In addition, with the net revenue from the recital event, we were able to start a modest endowment (which we had never had before) whose proceeds are used to support our music education outreach efforts in local elementary, middle, and high schools.
We are exceedingly grateful to Midori and Partners in Performance for their visionary support that has made it possible for our organization to thrive and grow in the years since 2015.
